Belgian Big Seashell Survey 2023

Come on Saturday 25 March 2023 to one of the 10 coastal municipalities along the Belgian coast for the sixth Belgian Big Seashell Survey. On that day, hundreds of amateur scientists and citizens will determine which shells have washed up on the beaches. This can give us a better picture of the changes in marine life in the Belgian part of the North Sea.

Exploring camera-trap data GBIF webinar

The programme will include an introduction to and discussions about Camtrap DP, a new community-developed exchange format, and a preview of a publishing guide for camera-trap data now in preparation. The session will conclude with an update on the status and next steps of the broader effort to diversify the data model.

BIOcean5d kick-off

Researchers from 11 European countries meet in Heidelberg (11-13 January) to kickstart a the BIOcean5D, a major interdisciplinary project designed to better understand marine biodiversity and its fate in the Anthropocene.

EMBL is coordinating the BIOcean5D project that brings together 30 research partners to holistically explore marine biodiversity at molecular and organismal levels – from viruses to mammals, across space, time, and human scales (5D).
