Abstract
Ceramium cingulatum Weber van Bosse described in 1923 after material from Siboga (Sumatra, Indian Ocean) has never been mentioned from the Mediterranean Sea. We found it regularly while assorting phytosociological relevés from Banyuls, Marseille and Port-Cros (France). Some populations of Ceramium sp. growing epiphytically on Amphiroa rigida Lamour, near the water at Port-Cros (Var, France) were richly and exclusively provided with parasporocysts. These reproductive organs are not very frequent in the genus Ceramium.
