Abstract
    (1) 144Ce and 59Fe are introduced in sea-water in soluble form and give rapidly particulate forms. (2) In this state, they are very rapidly sorbed in the superficial sediment. (3) This sorption will involve an important decontamination of sea-water. (4) It does not seem possible that Arenicola could concentrate 144Ce and 59Fe sorbed in the sediment. (5) The burrowing activity of the worms helps to homogenize the distribution of 144Ce and 59Fe in the sediment.
