Abstract
This study deals with the genus Ceramium (Ceramiaceae, Rodophyta) from the tropical East African coast. Ten species were observed and included in this work. Since 1980 the phycological laboratory at the university of Ghent carries out taxonomic and biogeographic research on the macroalgae in the tropical West-Indo Pacific. With this work I hope to contribute to the continuing research on the algae of the East African coast and to give support to the phycologists who continue the observation of the species Ceramium.
