Abstract:
Our research focuses on the phylogeny of flowering plants and covers almost all subdisciplines of plant systematics. During the past few years molecular systematics has resulted in a vast number of phylogenetic hypotheses of plant relationships at different systematic levels. Some of these conflict with classical hypotheses developed on the basis of structural, morphological, and anatomical data. Therefore the re-evaluation of character homologies is highly needed, particularly among angiosperms, in order to establish more robust phylogenetic hypotheses. This is the main goal of our research: combining morphological and anatomical data with molecular data seeking a better insight in the evolution of the characters and the phylogeny of the group.
