Abstract
The survival, growth, conversion index, and cost of feeding of three identical groups of sea bream intensively reared in tanks are compared by studying three different feeding methods: a) automated pragrammed feed distribution at regular intervals during the diurnal phase, according to suppliers tables, b) ad libitum hand feeding three times per day, and c) self-feeding. The best results biologically and economically, are obtained using the self-feeding technique. The two other methods lead to lesser biological performance and are not statistically different between them. The results are discussed in terms of the biological and economical process of production.
