Abstract
A new genus, Cavatisinurostrum, and its type species, C. faniae n. sp., are described in detail. The species gives its name to a new zone of the Lower Famennian of Belgium, France and Germany. A second species, from Western Australia, is not described in the present note. The fact that these two species are found at the same stratigraphic level, both in the northern and southern hemisphere, gives a great importance to the genus.
