Abstract
Our systematic investigations on the soft bottoms of the French Catalonian coast resulted in the collection of 26 species of Ameiridae(Copepoda Harpacticoida). Most of these had not been previously recorded on the coasts of France or in the Mediterranean. Four are newto science and are described : Proameira echinipes n.sp., Pseudameira limicola n.sp. and Ps. perplexa n.sp., Limameira mediterranea n.g.n.sp. The family Ameiridae has a low numerical importance despite the diversity of species. In general terms, their distribution closely follows that of the mean and coarse fractions of the sediments. A detailed analysis of the distribution of the main species reveals certain specializations.
