Abstract
Un update on four species of hydroid species in the Netherlands is given. Euphysa aurata was only found as medusa, but there are now many records of polyps from shallow, silty sand substrates with Vaucheria in the delta area of the southwestern Netherlands and somewhat deeper cleaner sandy substrates in coastal areas of the North Sea. Two mats of 100 cm2 of Diphasia rosacea were found on the underside of stones near Westkapelle (province of Zeeland). This is the first record of a settled population in the Netherlands. In 2013 a colony of Rhizogeton spec. was found on a living Mytilus edulis at Neeltje Jans (Noordzee side) (province of Zeeland). Also in 2013 a colony of probably the same species was found near Burghsluis (province of Zeeland). The species is similar to R. nudus, but probably belongs to an undescribed species which lives in the English Channel and the Mediterranean. In Vervoort & Faasse (2009) Thieliana navis is mentioned. Taxonomic research has shown that this taxon has been described several times from different parts of the world. The accepted name is Pachycordyle michaelis.
