Abstract
On 9 October 2020 the Pacific amphipod Aoroides longimerus was collected in the Veerse Meer in the southwestern delta area of the Netherlands. On 23 October 2020 more specimens were collected, together with the Pacific amphipod Ericthonius didymus. These are the first records of these species from Europe north of France. Both species were identified using morphological characters as well as molecular methods. The Oosterschelde is an area with shellfish culture and recreational boating. As the specimens were collected of a pontoon in a marina, recreational vessels may have been the introduction vector. Ecological effects of the introductions are not obvious. A phenomenon that does become more and more obvious is the large and quickly growing proportion of exotic species in the delta area of the Netherlands.
