| Abstract |
A left third upper premolar, a dP3 sup. sin., of the early Pleistocene southern mammoth, Mammuthus meridionalis (Nesti, 1825), was recently found on the beach of Maasvlakte 2. The relatively rare and heavily mineralised dental element contains all the morphological characteristics that allow an identification to species level. In addition, the fossil is heavily mineralised, which also gives indications about an age of the EarlyPleistocene. This contribution describes the premolar and lists the determination characteristics. |
