Abstract
    The Polychaete assemblage in the gulf of Follonica has been studied to give evidence the characteristics of benthic communities that appeared notable impoverished some years before in the western area of the gulf. Water movement and granulometry of the substrate are the main factors influencing the distribution of the species. The structural analysis of the assemblage don't present any difference between the eastern and western areas of the gulf giving evidence of environmental improvement.
