Science meets Regions: artificial intelligence, more than a hype?

During this very interesting AI-day at the Flemish Parliament, Klaas Deneudt from LifeWatch VLIZ will give a talk about "Artificial intelligence applications in marine biodiversity observations".

During the coffee and lunch breaks, the FlowCam software will be demonstrated. The FlowCam is part of the LifeWatch Marine Observatory.

EMODnet Biology end user workshop: A Showcase for the European Atlas of Marine Life

This one-day event, co-ordinated by EMODnet Biology partners, will demonstrate the data products, tools and services developed through EMODnet Biology and made available via the Atlas of Marine Life. Focussing on Essential Ocean Variables and real-world use-cases, international experts will contribute to the discussion and provide feedback on the future direction of data product development.

This event is linked to the European Maritime Day conference and will also feature a range of posters and the opportunity to try the Atlas for yourself.

Pint of Science - World Ocean Day 2019

The annual science festival Pint of Science invites scientists to a bar in your neighbourhood to inform you about the latest news from the world of science. And all this in a casual, cozy atmosphere. On 20, 21 and 22 May, the international festival visits several cities in Belgium, including Ostend for the first time. As the sea is never far away in Ostend, we program two marine scientists on each of the three evenings.
