Abstract
    The taxonomy and distribution of some new or rare species of the rotifer genera Lecane and Lepadella are discussed. Lecane brazilensis n. sp. and Lepadella amazonica n. sp. are described. The presence of Lecane dumonti Segers, L. uenoi Yamamoto, Lepadella lindaui Koste, L. bicornis Vasisht and Battish and L. pterygoida (Dunlop) in the neotropical region is reported or confirmed.
