Abstract
The skeleton of a young specimen of N. mixta (stage 18 tentacles), collected in Roscoff presents intermediary characteristics between younger individuals and adults. This specimen is completely described. Some peculiarities of very young exemplars and adult skeletons of the species are pointed out. The variation of some types of spicules during growth brings up the question of the choice among taxonomic criteria and their hierarchical gradation.
