| Abstract |
Carabid and cicindelid beetles belong to the most diverse group of insects in the world and in Flanders. Typical coastal dune species are mainly restricted to sandy and dynamic habitats [marram dunes, pioneer dune slacks], xerothermic grasslands and moss-dominated dunes. Typical species for salt marshes in our region also occur along the coast. A total of 65 ground and tiger beetle species can therefore be defined as typical for the Flemish maritime region.
