Description
This dataset comprises zooplankton samples collected using sediment traps deployed at a depth of 87 meters at the “Mooring Dirigibile Italia” (MDI) site (78°54.815 N, 12°14.899 E) in the inner part of Kongsfjorden (Svalbard), near tidewater glacier fronts. As part of the KAIROS project, the dataset spans eight years (2014–2022) and has been curated to adhere to FAIR principles. The dataset underwent thorough data review, formatting, quality control, validation, and standardization. Furthermore, zooplankton data was integrated with oceanographic data (seawater temperature and salinity) collected synoptically at the same site. Morpho-functional traits for the different taxa collected were also measured for campaign VIII and XIII to better characterize the zooplankton size structures.

Lineage
Prior to publication data undergo quality control checked which are described in https://github.com/EMODnet/EMODnetBiocheck?tab=readme-ov-file#understanding-the-output
