Description

The SHELDA (Sub-hourly European quality-controlled sea level dataset) dataset, provides quality-controlled sea level records and corresponding residual time series at 1–15 minute intervals from 257 tide gauges along European coastlines.

more

SHELDA provides a comprehensive collection of high-frequency, quality-controlled sea level time series derived from tide gauge measurements across European and adjacent coastlines, including Greenland, the Canary Islands, Israel, Lebanon, and Turkey. The data originate from the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission’s Sea Level Station Monitoring Facility (IOC SLSMF). Before publication, all records underwent rigorous automatic and visual quality control procedures to ensure reliability and consistency. The dataset comprises 257 NetCDF files containing sea level observations sampled at intervals between 1 and 15 minutes for the period 2007–2021. It enables the precise identification and analysis of sea level variations occurring at periods from minute to multi-yearly along the majority of European coastlines.
