Abstract
Bryozoan growth-form assemblages from the Coralline Crag (Pliocene) of eastern England reflect the presence of several distinct sedimentary regimes. Examination of the distributions of species having erect bilaminar ('eschariform') colonies shows that within this growth-form category. the relative contributions made by different species may vary considerably according to variations in environmental conditions; Thus, whilst general conclusions may be drawn from the relative abundance of 'eschariform' types within the bryozoan fauna, more useful information for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions can be derived from the, species composition.
