Abstract
This chapter presents guidelines for choosing the most appropriate methodology for conducting research on communities of free-living nematodes. Each of the chapter’s six sections begins with a flow chart that guides the researcher through the most common research options in the context of basic and applied research on nematodes as environmental indicators. The accompanying texts provide assistance in selecting the most appropriate research methods. For details on the research methods, the reader is referred to chapters elsewhere in this volume.
