Description
This database provides a comprehensive compilation of life history trait data for endangered, threatened, and protected (ETP) marine species across the Northeast Atlantic and adjacent European waters, with a focus on ecoregions relevant to the Marine Beacon project. moreTraitBank is a database of life-history trait information collated for endangered, threatened and protected marine mammal, seabird, reptile, elasmobranch and teleost species by-caught by commercial fisheries in Europe. A custom life‑history data extraction template was built, which included mandatory fields, source tracking, and consistent metadata definitions. This template was shared with all project partners to ensure harmonised entries across taxa and regions/management units. Marine Beacon project partners populated the template with values extracted from peer‑reviewed literature, grey literature, and global databases (e.g., FishBase, WoRMS). This process ensured that every attribute and species entry is traceable, reproducible, and quality‑controlled. This database is unique, because it brings together a level of completeness, harmonisation, and trans‑taxa comparability that did not pre viously exist for ETP species in European waters.
